Valencia CF recognised in CIES study
The club are tenth for talent produced in the last two decades
Kevin Gameiro was the scorer of Valencia CF's first goal of the season, carrying over his stellar preseason form into the start of the campaign. The Frenchman was the club's top marksman in the summer, with a strike against Sporting CP and a brace against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and has shown the kind of consistency that he had found in the second half of last season.
The numbers are a throwback to a decade ago, when he was a 22 year old talent playing for FC Lorient. There, he scored three times in preseason and kicked off the Ligue 1 season with a goal against Lille. Gameiro would go on to score 19 times in official competition (17 in the league and 2 in the cup) and attract the attention of scouts around Europe.
A similar haul from the striker would be an ideal boost for Valencia CF in 2019/20. At the moment, Gameiro has 13 goals for the club across domestic and European competitions, and a hunger for more.
